Philippine Standard Time:

PGB’s Mythical 5

In basketball, there is a so-called Mythical 5, an award given annually by the Philippine Basketball Association to the top five best players in a tournament.

Just recently, the Provincial Government of Bataan fielded five of its best public servants in an arena called Public Management Development Program – Local Government Executives and Managers Class (PMDP-LGEMC). They are: Ms. Liza Concepcion – Office of the Provincial Public Employment Service Manager; Dr. Agatha Pauline De Leon – Office of the Provincial Veterinarian; Ms. Will Ann Garcia – Office of the Provincial Population Officer; Mr. Raymund Macomis – Office of the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Officer; and Ms. Danica Lolita Tigas – Office of the Provincial Tourism Officer.

In general, the goal of the PMDP is to foster professionalism in government and promote stability in the bureaucracy by producing a corps of development-oriented, competent, dedicated and honest government senior executives and middle managers within the medium term.

The LGEMC is a comprehensive training program which aims to strengthen the capabilities of local government functionaries so that they may excel in their roles, be more adaptive in a changing and disruptive environment, and propel good practices and innovations for sustained delivery of public services at the local government level.

With the official launching of Development Academy of the Philippines’ (DAP’s) 15th batch of LGEMC last September 24, 2024, a total of 23 scholars from 17 LGUs—representing municipalities, cities, and provinces from 11 regions—began their leadership journey at the DAP Conference Center in Tagaytay City. that ended last November 29.

Prior to this, was the submission of their concept papers as a prerequisite for graduation wherein three (3) prestigious awards were up for grabs, so to speak; namely: Highest performing scholar, Leadership, and Best innovation concept paper.

Ms. Danica Tigas’ concept paper entitled 1SIKLAB: An Emergence of Creative Tourism got the most coveted Best Innovation Concept Paper award.

1SIKLAB aims to boost Bataan’s tourism and cultural identity through the integration of the creative industry, reinforcing the “1Bataan” brand. It focuses on increasing tourism, enhancing brand quality, and diversifying the economy. The initiative follows a three-phase approach: Itatag (Establish), which includes launching a creative nook and adopting a strategic plan, Iangat (Elevate), involving training, tour package development, and event organization: and Ibahagi (Enthrall), which focuses on launching educational materials and evaluating the project’s impact.

Well done, PGB’s mythical 5! We are all proud of you! Way to go, Ms. Danica, keep up the good work!
