Bataan 1st District Rep. Tony Roman has filed a bill Digital Teaching Excellence Act (House Bill 607) to help public school teachers improve their digital skills. The bill aims to create a national training and certification program on using technology and project-based learning in the classroom.
Roman said his bill will help teachers use modern and student-friendly ways of teaching. He also said teachers can earn certificates at three levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced. Trainings will be available through online platforms like DepEd Commons and the TESDA Online Program.
The Department of Education (DepEd) will lead the program with the help of TESDA, DICT, and the PRC, which will give professional credits for the certificates. Roman explained that this program supports the country’s goal to improve education and help teachers prepare students for the future.
Joining the training will be voluntary, but teachers will be given rewards such as professional development points and chances for leadership roles.
