The Senate has approved on second reading Senate Bill No. 2945, which seeks to strengthen the powers and functions of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB). The measure proposes amendments to Republic Act No. 9728, also known as the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) Act of 2009, as amended by Republic Act No. 11453.

According to Bataan 2nd District Representative Abet Garcia, the proposed legislation aims to further enhance AFAB’s capacity to generate more opportunities for employment, business, and investment in the province.

Garcia expressed his gratitude to Senator Migz Zubiri, the principal sponsor of the bill in the Senate, and to Bataan 3rd District Representative Gila Garcia, one of the principal authors of the measure.

The congressman reaffirmed his commitment to continue pushing for legislation that will support the growth and development of Bataan.
